Renting our property

About

The Sarah Tyng Winslow Schoolhouse (Little Red Schoolhouse) is an historic building and we are delighted to share it with you. This picturesque venue provides a memorable backdrop for weddings, receptions, parties, business meetings, and other types of gatherings. The antique school house, rural atmosphere, and green lawn add beauty to this inviting historical setting. The building accommodates approximately 50 people depending on seating requirements, etc.

Property

  • The Schoolhouse – The original 1789 Schoolhouse is the main event space, for talks, meetings, receptions, and dinners.
  • The Lawn – In warmer weather, tents and tables can be set up on the lawn.

Capacity

  • Meetings and Presentations (seated) – up to 50 people
  • Dinners (seated) – up to 50 people
  • More capacity with use of lawn

Amenities

  • Wood- burning stove in schoolhouse. The wood-burning stove may only be used under the pre-approved direct supervision of a society member who is familiar with its use. The fire must be completely extinguished prior to leaving the building after an event.
  • Use of the DRLT parking lot next door is NOT included in this rental agreement. Parking is available behind the schoolhouse and in the field.
  • There are 10 chairs and 8 benches available for use of renters. Benches are quite old and fragile and should be treated with great care, never moved or lifted by their arms.
  • Outdoor electrical outlets available
  • Additional expenses may include portable restroom rentals, tables and chairs, police details, additional mowing/plowing depending on the size of event and whether the field is needed.
  • There are no bathroom facilities or potable water on the property

Rates

  • Members ($25 annual contribution) receive a discount on rentals
  • Business meetings, Board meetings, lectures, presentations (2-3 hours)
  • $50 member; $75 non-member
  • Full-day meetings, workshops – $150 member; $250 non-member
    • Social events, receptions, and parties – $300 member; $400 non- member.
    • Commercial/For-Profit events – $450. Alcoholic beverages are not permitted at for-profit events.
    • Rates for political events cannot be discounted (see Political Events and Receptions).

Licenses and Policies

  • Rental Agreement – required for all rentals
    • Serving Wine and Beer at Events – Events serving alcohol might be subject to special licensing requirements through the town of Dunstable. This process may take several weeks to complete.
    • Political Events and Receptions – Special conditions apply for political
